Taddie a Romi (Second day marriage visits)

The Taddie is made from natural cotton and chiffon, hand-embroidered with a design inspired by the traditional bride's veil from Siwa Oasis. Married women would wear this piece during family visits. This piece is approximately 20 years old, and the craft of making Teddies has largely disappeared today.  The hand embroidery takes about 6 months to complete, featuring symbols like the fish for fertility, the spider for protection from black magic, and the Khamsa (hand) for warding off envy.  The colours of the embroidery are inspired by the ripening stages of dates.  Size: Free  Material: Cotton and Chiffon  Care: Dry clean only, as colours may bleed
